Open Day: Civil War - West Horsley Place

Open Days at West Horsley Place are a wonderful way to explore the fascinating history of the site. With over 600 years there are plenty of stories to uncover. Explore the Manor House and gardens at your leisure.

At each Open Day there are historical re-enactments. In April they are joined by Lord Hopton’s Regiment and the English Civil War Society who will be putting on an all-day Living History display to transport visitors back to the 17th Century. They will show both civilian and military experiences of the 1640s with military drill displays at set times throughout the day.

We will be looking to encourage the public to get hands on with replica weaponry of the time along with learning about the daily life people of the period lived through.
