The nineteenth century was an especially important period in the development of Ukrainian art. A rising nationalist spirit led artists and writers to work with local sources such as landscape and folk tradition, departing from the traditional curriculum of the Imperial Academy of Arts in St Petersburg. Movements such as Romanticism, Realism, and Art Nouveau gained a vibrant local character.
This is a repeat course from May 2024.
